Dr. Peter Gregory Joins Board of Directors

VANCOUVER, January 29, 2007 - Cooper Minerals Inc. (TSXV: CQ) (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Peter Gregory to the Board of Directors effectively immediately.

Dr. Gregory is a "hands on" exploration geologist with more than 35-years exploration experience, including 16-years in the corporate sector. He has initiated and managed exploration programs in more than 38 countries spanning every continent except Antarctica. As exploration manager for Ashton Mining Ltd., he was part of the team that discovered the Merlin Diamond Mine as well as many new diamond occurrences world wide. During his 18 years with the British Petroleum - Selection Trust Group, he participated in international exploration programs for diamonds, gold, nickel and other metalliferous commodities as well as coordinating research for BP Minerals. Dr Gregory is a past Director of Metalex Ventures Ltd., Cantex Mine Development Corp., Golden West Resources Ltd., Diamond Company N.L., Australian Ores and Minerals Limited, Hunan-Ashton Inc. (China), and Malmikaivos Oy (Finland).

Dr Gregory graduated in 1965 from the Royal School of Mines, London with an honours degree in mining geology. He obtained his PhD from Imperial College, London in 1970 for research in Geochemical Exploration and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and is a Professional Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.

The Company has granted Dr. Gregory incentive stock options to purchase up to 250,000 common shares at an exercise price of $0.50 cents per share exercisable for a period of five years from the date of grant.
